The Newborn Behavioural Observation (NBO) system is a tool designed to help you observe and understand your baby’s behaviour and fascinating uniqueness and see how they communicate through their behaviour. Through the NBO system, you will understand the signs, movements and responses that your baby makes, bringing you closer together so you can understand what they are saying, who they are and what they dislike.
We are able to complete the NBO with you with babies from birth to 3 months old. Each session is individual to each baby, but typically covers social interactive capacities, motor tone and activity levels, ability to habituate to light and sound, capacity for self-regulation and the response to stress.
Observing these behaviours will show your baby’s strengths and also identify the kind of support they need. The observations can provide you with an individualised plan of tools to meet those needs. Parents who have completed the NBO with us really feel that they know their baby better and that it has helped them to engage more with their baby.
Do get in touch to organise a time to enjoy this precious form of bonding. We can see you at home or in our private practice in Marylebone.
