How can a Human Givens therapist help ?

Human Givens therapy is based on a sound body of scientifically based knowledge. As a Human Givens therapist, I have experience in using a toolbox of proven therapeutic skills to help people- both children and adults – to alleviate distress, find ways to balance their physical and emotional needs, overcome a wide range of emotional and behavioural difficulties and move towards a much better and improved quality of life. I can help with the following :

  • Break the cycle of depression– the Human Givens approach is the best available psychotherapeutic treatment for depression and postnatal depression. Even chronic depression can be lifted quickly.
  • Resolve Trauma – dissolve the symptoms of birth trauma, miscarriage and loss, trauma from nicu stays, medical procedures, post traumatic stress disorder(PTSD) and complex PTSD, however long ago, safely,  effectively, quickly and gently, without requiring you to disclose the trauma events in detail, and preventing further re traumatisation from occuring.
  • Manage anger – anger can surface as a result of poor support in the hospital, in the community or as you manage the transition to parenthood.
  • Stop addictive behaviour – the Human Givens approach can help free you from all forms of addiction and eating disorders at any point on your journey from conception to early parenthood.
  • Relieve medical conditions and manage pain– many conditions such as asthma, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), chronic headaches, chronic back pain, pelvic girdle pain, morning sickness, healing from birth injury- all have an emotional component component. Stressful events often trigger an outbreak because emotions affect health and vice versa.
  • Help to improve relationships – the experience of trying to conceive, managing an IVF journey, loss of a baby, birth trauma or injury, illness, medical procedures and new parenthood all impact on our relationships. Having support at this time as a couple or family can make a real difference to your health and wellbeing
  • Growing confidence, self esteem or learning new skills – I can support you to grow confidence as a new parent, learn assertiveness and communication skills to ensure your needs are met, grow confidence around breastfeeding or bottlefeeding and babycare, preparing to return to work or job interviews and career changes. The HG approach provides techniques to be able to help you improve your confidence in these settings and to go onto and learn new skills feeling calm and confident.
